WPC: Transition

I have been away from my blog for almost a month now, so lots of covering up is required. Missed out a few of the WPC, but not anymore.

I went out to the balcony to feel the change in weather. It’s November and the sun is no longer harsh on us. The dew on grass hints the transition taking place.

I looked down at the flower-pot, as fresh leaves of coriander woke-up to the sunlight. Within a few days, the transition from a coriander seed to a growing plant had taken place. Some of the leaves were still attached to their parent seed.

WPC : Concrete Grid!

With construction happening every where in Noida, I came across an under construction building at sector 18, Noida that caught my attention. It stands tall with a grid like architecture design that make it unique and distinguish it from its neighborhood.

I took this picture on my way back to home from a moving bus with phone camera.
It was edited using Flickr’s inbuilt app Aviary to make it more presentable.

You can find more of grids at WPC: Grid.

Weekly Photo Challenge : Connected – I

While i was thinking of the images that could reflect the “Weekly Photo Challenge Theme – Connected”. I saw the headphone lying over the keyboard unheard. In today’s tech savvy life, the gadgets play a vital roll in connecting the world together. Not just that, they too are connected, as this one is currently connected to the mac book :p

WPC : Inspiration – Nature

Few months back, I long with my friend decided to capture India Gate, as we were walking down we saw beautiful flowers on road sides, this is one of them. Explore what inspires bloggers around the globe with the Daily Post.

End of an era! Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam passes away.

The end of an era

Yesterday, India lost Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a scientist, a people’s president (the only one in the democracy of India), and a true Bharat Ratna.

He was the only role model India had in decades after Gandhi, who the young generation could follow and be inspired by. He was the 11th president of the county,  and arguably the most popular among the masses. His popularity was beyond any TRPs. During his tenure as president of India from 2002-07, he inspired the nation with his energy, motivated the young with his words, became a favorite amongst cartoonists for his hairstyle and brought smiles to many faces with his sense of humor. As a scientist he was involved in India’s civilian space program and military missile development efforts India. For his pivotal organizational, technical and political role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests, he was nick nicknamed the “MISSILE MAN“.

Even though the terror attack in Punjab was all over news channels, it was the loss of our favorite president that shocked us more.

India will always miss you, sir. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. Thank you for giving India a true Bharat Ratna and being a role model for all of us.

If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher. –  Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Marketing Love

Musings of an eccentric mind

A couple of weeks back, I ordered a bag from the online store Chumbak*

The bag was of very good quality, no doubt, but what I liked more were the little bits of detail in the product package — the bright pink tags on the bag; the caption that said ‘Designed with love in India’; and my favourite, the metallic baby elephant!

A symbol of my love for textured paper; a symbol of national pride; and a symbol of the joys of little surprises.

Kudos to the team at the store for putting their heart into the purchase experience!

A baby elephant, proudly saying 'designed with love in India'! A baby elephant, proudly saying ‘designed with love in India’!

In other marketing news, here’s something I recently created — a t-shirt of my mother’s kolam!

T-shirt available now at mydreamstore.in T-shirt available now at mydreamstore.in

This is the first of what I hope will become a series of tees – see, there’s a logo…

I was at India Gate this weekend, the whole day i was busy shooting at various locations. When i reached the location it was already flooded with people. It was getting dark, there were lots of colorful lights all around. In no time i took out my camera and started shooting,  having no prior experience of night photography, i decided to go with the flow. Do share your thoughts in comments section 🙂

Ephemeral

Ephemeral” an  interesting word to shoot for Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge .
It was early morning and i had just finished my cup of tea, i went into kitchen to get something to eat, I heard sound of tap dripping, i looked around and saw drops of water falling into the cup filled with water. It looked very attractive but it was Ephemeral, getting a still shot of it took a lot of effort but finally I got one to share 🙂

The day had just began well, I was happy with the morning shoot, but wanted to get some more, the tree standing outside balcony had turned half yellow in color, its leaves have started to fall off , the few that were still attached to its branches will not hold for long another Ephemeral moment of life.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Express Yourself!

It was afternoon and the sun was bright, until suddenly it started to become dark. I went outside and saw huge dark clouds floating in the sky. A dramatic change was taking place. The sky was divided into two – one half was bright with clear sky and the other was beginning to be ruled by huge dark clouds. The sun was still shining bright, but not for long. Dense clouds were preparing to overpower its glory. I was anticipating the merger. 10 minutes later, I saw a bright golden line bordering the clouds, as they began to cover the sun completely.

Click!

I was very satisfied with the shot. But when I saw the image again, I was amazed.

When everything seemed to be dark, when there were no rays of hope, when the world suddenly looked ugly and when the battle seemed to have ended, a dark horse with golden hair rose, defying all odds, only to ride over the clouds, reflecting a true DARK HORSE! attitude.

Feather Touch!

It’s 2015!

It’s been long since I posted anything here. And with the arrival of the New year, I decided to break all barriers that laziness has created within me, and showcase a few of my recent clicks.

Winter is at its peak in India, with no sunshine in Delhi in quite a few days. One day, after lunch, I was comfortably lying on my bed inside the quilt, when I saw bright light entering through the  window. The warmth rejuvenated my mood. That is when I noticed the peacock feather that had been lying at the corner of the window. The light made it look wonderful. For full 10-15 minutes I had been admiring it, before the thought of capturing it struck me.

Here are the 5 best shots out of more than 30 attempts at capturing the feather’s beauty.

If I had to choose a favourite, it would be the photo with the top view angle. Also, the one with sun glare came out well. Sun glares fascinate me, and I enjoy capturing them.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the pictures. Which one do you prefer? Or perhaps you have one of your own. Please do share them in comments.

Here’s to a great new year. Hope you fly high! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Near and Far

OK this is my first participation into “Weekly Photo Challenge“, for this weeks theme “Near and Far”. I looked into my photo database  for the one picture I could give in the competition, but it was a tough task as there were many contenders, so i finally decided to post a gallery instead of just one.

Looking forward to “Like’s” and comments. May the best photo wins 🙂

Wings of Freedom!

India celebrated its Independence Day Today, 15 August, 1947 was the day when Indian attained Freedom from British rule. The word “Freedom” reminded me of a shot i took last Sunday, it happened accidentally, but i was overjoyed to see the outcome :). I tribute this photograph to the patriots who fought for the independent India.

WPC : Connected via Bridge!

Old Bridge in Allahabad

The old Naini bridge connecting the city of Allahabad to its neighborhood of Naini is one of the longest and the oldest bridge in India, a fact i just discovered at Wikipedia.

newNainiBridge

Corresponding to this is the new bridge that was build by the end of 2004 to minimize the traffic and is also the longest cable-stayed bridge of India, both these bridges run North-South across the Yamuna river.
